Girls Love Yarn has been an active group for over a year now.The group that began with 5 to 6 ladies has grown to around 28 including 3 men.Yes, even Guys love yarn.In the beginning we were only going to meet once a month, but after 2 meetings we decided we were having so much fun that we agreed to meet every week, on Tuesday nights. We have had people find us through the web, through friends or by coming into All For You and seeing all the yummy yarn for sale and then showing an interest in either knitting or crocheting. We have had many come wanting to learn one of the crafts. We have had classes for beginners and classes for the more experienced. We are planning on more classes in the future, some will be fun free events and others will be paid classes.
All knitters & crocheters know that most of the items they make they give away, either to family/friends or to charities. Our group is no exeception.Over the past year we have given hats & scarves to the homeless here in Greenwood, made chemo caps and made hats & booties for the Neonatal Unit at Self Regional Hospital. Some of our members also donate items to charities here in the US and overseas. One of the things that really touches me is when a beginner gives their first completed item to someone in need.
We have had a lot of fun at our meetings. Some nights we got a lot of knitting or crocheting done and others we also got a lot of talking and sharing stories done. Like any group we have all types of people, quiet, talkative, shy, outgoing.Somehow we have managed tomesh and enjoy each other's company. There hasalways been a helping hand for projects and an ear to listen to problems when needed.
As we begin our 2nd year we are looking forward to having others find us and join us for learning, laughing, and getting some knitting & crocheting done.

What a crazy night indeed! Tuesday night is my favorite night of the week since the beginning of Girls Love Yarn. We have been meeting since February starting with only a handful of happy yarn lovers! It is hard to believe the group has grown to about twelve every week and we are growing. We have one "yarn guy" and not only does he crochets he bring us food, what more could you ask! We have a very unique group in that we have beginners all the way up to the very experienced. Personalities A Plenty! We have a new yarn girl from Colorado that said she was very excited to find us. "Colorado" said they are yarn stores and groups galore there. We are happy she found us!
